A hand-build carmaker founded in Sydney in 1986 by the Lebanese-Australian Khouri brothers and based in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur since 1998. Bufori makes its own carbon-kevlar composite bodies, wiring harnesses, control units and software in-house. Its current range is the Geneva saloon and, since 2025, the CS8 grand tourer.
The Bufori CS8 is a two-door grand tourer hand-built in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, on a carbon-fibre and Kevlar composite monocoque. The headline engine is a blueprinted 6.4-litre supercharged V8 with 810 hp and 973 Nm, good for 0-100 km/h in 3.0 seconds and a limited 330 km/h, but four other engines are offered at the same RM2.188 million (about $543,000) price. Bufori quotes over 9,000 man-hours per car; first deliveries are due in the first quarter of 2027.
Bufori was founded in 1986 in the western suburbs of Sydney by three brothers, Anthony, George and Gerry Khouri, who built retro-styled coupes on composite bodies at a time when almost nobody outside racing was using them. The first cars borrowed 1930s American proportions; the engineering underneath did not.
In 1998 the company moved manufacturing to Kepong, in Kuala Lumpur, where most of its buyers already were. The Malaysian operation is where Bufori’s method took its current shape: a carbon-fibre and Kevlar hybrid composite body that doubles as the structure, a stainless steel frame used only for mounting points, and a workshop that also makes the car’s wiring harnesses by hand and builds its own control units, circuit boards and software. Very few carmakers of any size do all of that themselves.
The Kepong site is rated for up to 300 cars a year, and every one of them is assembled by hand against a specific order rather than built to stock. The current range is the MKVI Geneva saloon, in production since 2010, and the CS8 grand tourer, launched in August 2025 with a supercharged 6.4-litre V8 and a claimed 9,000 man-hours of build time per car.
