About

Abarth was founded in Turin on 31 March 1949 by Carlo Abarth, an Italo-Austrian engineer who built the company out of the remains of Cisitalia and took his star sign, Scorpio, as its emblem. For two decades it made racing cars, exhausts and tuning kits, and turned small Fiats into competitive class winners. Carlo Abarth sold the business to Fiat in July 1971, and the badge has stayed inside the same corporate family ever since, reaching Stellantis through the 2021 merger of PSA Group and Fiat Chrysler.

The modern Abarth line-up is electric. The 500e is a harder-edged version of the Fiat 500e, built alongside it at Mirafiori in Turin. The 600e is the more powerful of the two and the most powerful road Abarth so far, reworked from the Fiat 600e and built only at Stellantis’s Tychy plant in Poland, where it shares a line with the Fiat 600e, Jeep Avenger and Alfa Romeo Junior. The range was reorganised in 2026 around Turismo and Competizione trims, replacing the earlier launch versions.
