Hyundai Motor America sold a record 450,568 vehicles in the first half of 2026, up 3%. Hybrids grew 67% year-to-date and now outpace EVs as the brand's main growth engine, echoing Toyota's playbook.
Alpine has revealed the A290 Rallye x Lacoste - a one-off customer racing concept styled by the French sportswear brand, with 290 crocodile motifs, forged carbon bodywork, and a capsule clothing collection.
The three Japanese makers are in final talks to standardize the electronic control units (ECUs) that run their next-generation hybrids and EVs. The shared modules would cover autonomous driving, infotainment and powertrain control, with cars expected from 2029-2030. The aim is to cut costs against Chinese rivals and Tesla.
Scout Motors, the Volkswagen Group subsidiary reviving the legendary International Harvester Scout name, has revealed the Traveler SUV and Terra pickup. Both are available in full electric or Harvester EREV form, start under $60,000, and are built in South Carolina from 2028.
The second model from Xpeng's value Mona sub-brand is a coupe-styled crossover sitting above the M03 liftback. It offers a battery-electric version with up to 650 km of range (preliminary) and a range-extender, both front-wheel drive with a 249 hp motor. Chinese prices are expected near 150,000 yuan (about $22,000).
The Commerce Department has denied Polestar authorization to sell its 2027 and later model-year cars in the United States, citing the Connected Vehicle Rule and Geely's controlling stake. The ban even covers the Polestar 3, which is built in South Carolina. Existing dealer stock can still be sold.
Slate Auto, the Jeff Bezos-backed startup, has unveiled its first vehicle: a stripped-back two-seat electric pickup from $24,950 that converts into a five-seat SUV with bolt-on kits. A 150 kW rear motor, 330 km EPA range and deliveries from Q4 2026.
Volkswagen has launched a Good-Night package that converts the electric ID. Buzz minivan into a light camper - a bed over the rear seats, a folding mattress, blackout blinds, a table and chairs. An overnight mode runs the climate control from the traction battery for up to 48 hours, and vehicle-to-load supplies 230 volts. It costs €2,600 in Germany.
Škoda has fully revealed the Peaq, its largest model and electric flagship. Built on VW's MEB platform, it offers three variants from 204 to 300 hp and up to 647 km WLTP. From €49,900 (~$54,000) in Germany.
Renault's updated Megane E-Tech Electric switches to a 67 kWh LFP battery for up to 500 km WLTP and faster 165 kW charging, behind a redesigned front end. From about €37,000 (~$40,000) in France.
Geely has shown its new Galaxy TT in official photos - a sporty C-segment electric sedan on the GEA platform with an 800V architecture and a CATL battery. Rear-drive cars make 333 hp; the dual-motor all-wheel-drive version makes a combined 578 hp. Media reports cite battery options of 52.4 to 75.2 kWh and 540 to 725 km of range. Prices are still to come.
Maserati facelifted the Grecale crossover alongside the GranTurismo and GranCabrio. The Giorgio-platform SUV grows 9 mm on a new bumper, gains the MCPURA shark-nose front, and adds a 390 hp Nettuno V6 to a range that spans a 48V mild-hybrid four-cylinder, the 530 hp Trofeo, and the 557 hp Folgore EV. Italian prices start at €83,200 ($89,900); a next-generation Grecale arrives in 2027.
The Polestar 4's signature feature is a solid tailgate with no rear window, fed by a camera and a digital mirror. Dutch outlet AutoWeek found the camera and parking sensors react too slowly to stop owners from creasing the metal, and published photos of several cars with dented tailgates.
Rivian has started customer deliveries of the R2, its first mass-market model and the car its future depends on. Built in Normal, Illinois, the mid-size electric SUV starts at $48,490 and offers up to 555 km (345 mi) of range, with a 656 hp Performance version at the top.
Tata Motors will unveil the electric Sierra on June 30, reviving one of India's most nostalgic nameplates as a modern EV. Built on the Acti.ev platform, it is expected to offer 60-something kWh battery options, around 500 km of range, and rear- or all-wheel drive, with prices reported in the 18-25 lakh rupee range (about $21,000 to $29,000).
BMW opened order books for the electric i3 50 xDrive months ahead of schedule after demand outran plans. The First Edition starts at 75,340 euros (about $86,400) in Germany, with up to 912 km WLTP range. Days earlier, BMW was reported to be discontinuing three China-built EVs in July to clear capacity for the Neue Klasse.
The flagship Dynasty-family EV SUV opens at ¥239,900 ($33,400) in China. Three variants span 408 to 796 hp on 1,000V architecture; the mid-range RWD claims 950 km of CLTC range on a 130.1 kWh Blade 2.0 battery.

Stelato - the BAIC and Huawei HIMA joint brand - published official photos of the G9, its second model after the S9 sedan. Two body lengths (5,206 or 5,377 mm), EREV at 594 hp / 75.4 kWh / 400+ km electric CLTC, and a BEV at 594 hp / 120 kWh / 700+ km. China sales expected before end of 2026; prices not announced.
BAIC has refreshed its entry-level electric hatchback barely nine months after it went on sale, renaming it the Arcfox Beta T1. The update brings a longer body, a redesigned rear, two battery options for 350 or 450 km of CLTC range, and a 550 km version to follow. Prices in China run from 62,800 to 79,800 yuan ($9,300 to $11,800).
BYD has handed over its 100,000th new energy vehicle in the UK, reaching the milestone in about three years - the fastest a foreign brand has climbed to 5% of the market in the country's history. It also plans 300 flash-charging stations by year-end.
Xpeng has put its flagship X9 electric MPV on sale across seven European countries simultaneously, from Germany to Iceland. The seven-seat MPV uses an 800V platform with up to 615 km of WLTP range and 5C charging, with German prices from 77,600 euros (about $89,200).
Dodge has opened pre-orders for the new Charger in Europe, in two body styles and two powertrains. The all-electric Daytona offers 544 or 680 hp from a 100.5 kWh battery; the petrol Sixpack uses a 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six with 426 or 558 hp. The range starts at 66,000 euros ($71,000), with first deliveries in September 2026.
Geely's Galaxy sub-brand put the Starship 7 EV on sale in China on 11 June, a compact electric SUV with up to 605 km CLTC range, an 800V platform, and four variants from a guide price of 109,800 yuan ($16,200). A limited-time offer cuts entry to 99,800 yuan ($14,730) with subsidies.
BMW has issued two recalls for the iX3, the first car on its Neue Klasse platform. A faulty onboard charger on 145 cars risks electric shock during charging; a separate action covers 4,843 cars over incorrectly fitted side airbags. No injuries reported.
Peugeot has released the first official images of the production E-208 GTi, identical to its 2025 concept. On the eCMP platform with a 280 hp / 345 Nm front motor, 54 kWh battery, 350 km WLTP range and 0-100 km/h in 5.7 s. Ride height dropped 30 mm, front track widened 56 mm. In May 2026 not a single petrol or diesel model made China's top 10 - the first time combustion cars have vanished from the list. It says less about an EV boom than a fuel-car collapse.
Mitsubishi has shown the first official photos of the Eclipse Sportback, an electric crossover based on the third-generation Nissan Leaf and built solely for North America. It gets its own bumpers, front fascia and tail-light pattern; the powertrain is undisclosed. Sales start in late summer or early autumn 2026.
Xpeng's flagship six-seat SUV booked 25,000 paid orders within 12 hours of going on sale, with more than 80% of buyers choosing the top Ultra trim. Waiting times have stretched to eight months and Xpeng is restructuring production. The GX spans BEV and EREV powertrains on an 800V platform.

NIO's ONVO brand opens orders for the L80, a five-seat electric SUV on the NT 3.0 platform. 85 kWh, 900V, up to 615 km CLTC. RWD 462 hp or AWD 598 hp. Retail from ¥245,800 (~$33,900).
Pre-orders are open for the Renault 4 Plein Sud, a canvas-roof variant of the R4 E-Tech Electric. Electric roof actuator, 92×80 cm opening, same 52 kWh / 409 km WLTP powertrain, 420-litre boot unchanged. From €37,290.
BYD's FangChengBao Tai 7 expands its lineup with new BEV versions, joining the existing PHEV range. Electric variants offer up to 700 hp (AWD), with the largest battery option of 105.7 kWh delivering up to 755 km CLTC. BEV pricing starts from ¥199,800 ($29,400).
BAIC's Arcfox S3 goes on sale in China from ¥96,800 ($14,200) - or from ¥68,800 ($10,100) with a battery rental scheme. Single motor, 216 hp, up to 65.8 kWh and 660 km CLTC.
Leapmotor is localizing B05 production at Stellantis's Zaragoza plant in Spain. Currently sold from €26,900 in Europe (imported from China); local production is expected to bring the entry price to around €19,500 after subsidies.
