The Atto 3 is the car BYD used to enter most of its export markets, and the Evo is the 2026 rework of it. The body is the same size as before at 4,455 mm long and 1,875 mm wide, and it remains a compact electric SUV with five seats, but almost everything under it changed. The important part is the switch to an 800-volt version of BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, which the company sells alongside its cell-to-body construction, where the Blade battery pack forms part of the structure rather than hanging below it.
Two versions are offered. The Design has a single 230 kW rear motor, 313 PS or 309 hp, and 380 Nm, which is enough for 5.5 seconds to 100 km/h and 180 km/h. The Excellence adds a front motor for a combined 330 kW, 449 PS or 443 hp, and 560 Nm, cutting the 0-100 km/h time to 3.9 seconds and raising top speed to 200 km/h. Both use the same 74.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate Blade battery, rated at 510 km WLTP in the rear-drive car and 470 km in the all-wheel-drive one. DC charging peaks at 220 kW, which BYD rates at 25 minutes from 10 to 80%, against 88 kW on the 400-volt car this replaces.
Inside, the Evo keeps the 15.6-inch centre touchscreen and adds Google built-in, so maps and voice control run without a phone. A heat pump is standard, as is a 360-degree camera, and the car supports vehicle-to-load for running equipment off the battery. Boot space is 490 litres, and moving the motor to the rear axle freed a 101-litre compartment under the bonnet that the earlier front-drive Atto 3 did not have.
The exterior changes are modest: a reprofiled front bumper, a light bar across the nose and new wheels, with six paint colours offered. German list prices are €44,990 for the Design and €50,990 for the Excellence, and BYD has been running a manufacturer discount that takes the Design below €36,000. The car is imported: BYD’s European factory at Szeged in Hungary is lined up for the Dolphin Surf and the Atto 2 first. The Atto 3 Evo was Norway’s sixth best-selling model in August 2026, where the statistics list it as the BYD EVO 4x4. The smaller electric SUV below it in Europe is the Atto 2, also sold as a plug-in hybrid; full brand background is on the BYD page.
