The Deepal G318 is a body-on-frame SUV from Changan’s Deepal brand, built on the Changan EPA1 platform and positioned as an off-road-oriented alternative to diesel-powered midsize 4x4s. It went on sale in China in the first quarter of 2024 and has since become one of Deepal’s higher-volume exports, reaching markets including Australia, the UAE, Egypt, and Russia.
Power comes from Deepal’s EREV (extended-range electric vehicle) system: a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 148 hp runs only as a generator and never drives the wheels. The entry RWD variant pairs a single 185 kW (248 hp) rear motor with an 18.99 kWh LFP battery, while the range-topping AWD Wilderness Edition adds a front motor for 316 kW (424 hp) combined output, a larger 35.1 kWh battery, and a 0-100 km/h time of 5.9 seconds. The petrol generator extends total driving range well beyond what the battery alone provides, addressing the charging-infrastructure gaps common on export markets.
Inside, the G318 centers on a 14.6-inch embedded touchscreen, with body-on-frame construction and low-range four-wheel-drive hardware aimed at buyers cross-shopping traditional diesel off-roaders. Curb weight ranges from roughly 2,060 to 2,360 kg depending on trim.
Pricing in China starts from ¥175,900 for the RWD variant, with export pricing set independently by market - it launched in Russia in March 2026 from around RUB 5,650,000, for example.
