The ProMaster City is Ram’s small-business van, sold below the full-size ProMaster and returning to the United States for the 2027 model year after the first-generation car was dropped in 2022. The name carries over; almost nothing else does. The original was a rebadged Fiat Doblo, a small van of the kind Europe calls a compact panel van. The 2027 car is the American version of the Stellantis midsize van, the vehicle sold across Europe as the Citroen Jumpy and Dispatch, the Peugeot Expert, the Fiat Scudo, the Opel and Vauxhall Vivaro and the Toyota ProAce. It keeps that van’s proportions, doors and glasshouse, and wears a Ram grille and badging.
One powertrain is offered on every version. A 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol four produces 166 hp and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm), driving the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic with a 3.33:1 final drive and steering-wheel paddles. Ram has not published fuel-economy ratings. The wheelbase is 129 inches and overall height is under 77 inches, low enough for most parking structures; overall length and width have not been released.
The load bay is the point of the vehicle. Cargo volume is more than 167 cubic feet over a load floor 111 inches long, cargo width is over 64 inches with 48 inches clear between the wheel wells, and interior cargo height is 54 inches. Payload is quoted at more than 2,000 pounds and towing at a targeted 2,000 pounds with the optional Class 3 hitch. The passenger-side sliding door is over 36 inches wide and 48 inches tall, rear step-in height is just over 23 inches, and the turning diameter is just over 42 feet. Cargo vans come with 180-degree rear swing doors as standard or an optional glazed liftgate, and a partition wall is optional; passenger wagons seat five, or eight with the optional third row.
Two trims are sold. The Tradesman has black plastic bumpers; the SLT adds a body-coloured front bumper with fog lamps, body-coloured rear bumper panels and 17-inch two-tone wheels, and offers a wireless phone charger and front parking sensors. Both get a 10-inch touchscreen with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a five-inch digital rear-view mirror, heated front seats, LED headlamps with high-beam assist, a reversing camera, rear parking sensors, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, hill-start assist and a programmable speed limiter. The four combinations list at $37,400 and $38,900 for the Tradesman and SLT cargo vans and $40,100 and $41,600 for the wagons, each before a $2,595 destination charge. The van is built at the Tofas plant in Bursa, Turkey, with orders opening in the second half of 2026 and deliveries starting in the first quarter of 2027.
