Tofas has built cars in Bursa since 1971, when the plant began assembling the Fiat 124 under licence as the Murat 124. The site was set up in 1969 by Koc Holding, which formed Tofas with Fiat the year before; the ownership has survived every reorganisation of the Italian side since, and today Stellantis Europe and Koc each hold about 37.8% of the company with the remainder listed in Istanbul.
The plant’s output is split between one passenger car and one commercial-vehicle family. The car is the Fiat Tipo, sold on its home market as the Egea, in hatchback, sedan and estate bodies. The vans are the Stellantis midsize range, which Bursa now builds for five brands at once: Citroen sells it as the Jumpy, Dispatch and SpaceTourer, Fiat as the Scudo and Ulysse, Peugeot as the Expert and Traveller, Opel and Vauxhall as the Vivaro and Zafira, and Toyota as the ProAce. Production of the compact van family, the Berlingo, Rifter and Combo class, is being added from 2026 under a separate contract.
For North America the same midsize van is built as the Ram ProMaster City, which reaches US dealers in the first quarter of 2027 and passes through Stellantis’s Baltimore Transformation Center for upfitting on arrival. Bursa also built the first-generation ProMaster City, the rebadged Fiat Doblo sold in the United States from 2015 to 2022, so the nameplate returns to America from the factory it left.
