Overview

FAW-Volkswagen has disclosed the first technical details of the ID.Aura T6, a mid-size electric crossover and the first model in a new ID.Aura family. Volkswagen plans to bring it to market in China before the end of 2026.

The T6 measures 4,811 mm long, 1,879 mm wide, and 1,648 mm tall on a 2,836 mm wheelbase, noticeably larger than the European-market ID.4. It rides on the China Electronic Architecture, an 800V platform Volkswagen co-developed with Xpeng, and shares its underpinnings with the larger ID.Unyx 08.

A filing with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology lists a single-motor version rated at 170 kW (231 hp), likely driving the rear wheels, with top speed limited to 180 km/h. Battery capacity and range haven’t been disclosed yet.

Volkswagen has confirmed a lidar unit mounted at the leading edge of the roof, part of a driver-assistance suite co-developed with Coretronic and Horizon Robotics. The interior hasn’t been shown, but Volkswagen has confirmed the T6 seats five. Pricing has not been announced.
