Stellantis has returned the Trailhawk and Overland trims to the Grand Cherokee range (the WL generation, on sale since 2021), this time with a petrol engine only and no hybrid version. The move comes after the company dropped its entire 4xe plug-in hybrid lineup earlier in 2026, including the Grand Cherokee, Wrangler and Pacifica, citing weak sales.
One engine
Both trims use the same powertrain: a 2.0-litre Hurricane 4 Turbo making 329 hp and 450 Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic.
Trailhawk: the off-road one
The 2027 Trailhawk is built to go off pavement. It offers 290 mm of ground clearance, a Quadra-Trac II four-wheel-drive system with low range, a rear differential lock, six skid plates, and a Rock setting in the Selec-Terrain system. Quadra-Lift air suspension is fitted, along with 18-inch wheels wrapped in 30.5-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory tyres, a TrailCam forward camera, and Nappa leather with red accents.
Overland: the luxury one
The 2027 Overland shares the Quadra-Trac II drivetrain and air suspension but trades the aggressive look for a more luxurious, road-biased package, riding on 21-inch wheels with road tyres.
What comes next
Pricing has not been announced, with deliveries expected by the end of 2026. Looking further out, Jeep’s FaSTLAne 2030 strategy has confirmed an SRT version that will bring the V8 HEMI back under the hood.
