Mercedes-Maybach revealed the GLS 680 on 20 July 2026. It replaces the GLS 600 as the flagship of the Maybach SUV range. The body and platform are shared with the standard Mercedes-Benz GLS, built alongside it at the Tuscaloosa, Alabama plant, but the trim, badging and comfort equipment are Maybach’s own.
The headline change is under the bonnet. The electrified 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, internally designated M177 EVO, now makes 603 hp and 850 Nm, up 53 hp and 89 Nm on the outgoing GLS 600. A second-generation 48-volt integrated starter generator adds a further 23 hp of temporary boost on top of that figure. AIRMATIC air suspension is standard, and the optional E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL system reads the road ahead to pre-load the dampers before a bump arrives.
Outside, the grille is redesigned with an illuminated outline and a subtly lit “MAYBACH” lettering inside the frame. An upright, optionally illuminated Mercedes-Benz star can now be specified on the bonnet in selected markets, a first for a Maybach SUV. Wheels run up to 23 inches, forged, with a self-leveling three-pointed-star center cap that stays upright regardless of wheel rotation.
Inside, the MBUX Superscreen carries three 12.3-inch displays under one sheet of glass with rose-gold dials, running on Mercedes-Benz’s MB.OS platform. The rear seats add a calf massage function on top of the existing multi-contour massage. Audio comes from a 15-speaker, 710-watt Burmester 3D Surround system with Dolby Atmos, and a new Maybach Nappa leather is available in beech brown and macchiato beige. An electric cabin air filter renews the interior air roughly every 90 seconds.
Order books opened in China immediately after the reveal. US and European ordering follows at the end of July 2026. Mercedes-Maybach has not announced pricing for any market.
