Changan Ford's vehicle assembly and powertrain site in Chongqing, opened in 2012 on a 113-acre plot with about 3,790 employees. It builds the Ford Escape, the Ford Mondeo, the Lincoln Zephyr and the Lincoln Corsair, and from 2027 it is the sole source of the Corsair sold in the United States.

Chongqing is the main production base of Changan Ford, the joint venture between Ford Motor Company and Changan Automobile that has assembled Ford vehicles in China since 2001. Ford dates the vehicle assembly and powertrain operation here to 2012, on a site of 113 acres employing roughly 3,790 people. The venture runs a second base in Hangzhou, and between them they account for Ford’s largest manufacturing footprint outside the United States.

Four vehicles are currently built at the site: the China-market Ford Escape and Ford Mondeo, the Lincoln Zephyr sedan, which is sold only in China, and the Lincoln Corsair. The Corsair has been assembled here for the Chinese market since 2020, where it is offered with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre front-drive hybrid.

From the 2027 model year the plant also supplies the United States. Ford closed its Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky to Corsair and Escape production on 17 December 2025 for a conversion to electric pickups, and rather than drop its cheapest model Lincoln moved the Corsair to Chongqing and made it an import. The American version is a 305 hp 2.0-litre hybrid with all-wheel drive, a powertrain the Chinese range does not offer. That makes the Corsair the second Lincoln built in China for US buyers, after the Nautilus from Hangzhou, and both are affected by Ford’s August 2026 statement that it will end China-built Lincoln imports and expand Lincoln production at US plants from 2030.
