Lincoln has put the Corsair back on sale in the United States for the 2027 model year, nine months after it stopped building the car there. The compact SUV is now imported from China, sold only as a hybrid, and priced $7,310 above the petrol version it replaces. Dealers are taking orders now and deliveries start in early 2027.

Corsair and Ford Escape production ended at Ford’s Louisville plant in Kentucky on 17 December 2025, when the factory closed for a $2 billion conversion to build the Fathom electric pickup. The Escape was simply dropped from the North American range. The Corsair, Lincoln’s cheapest model, was not: it moves to the Changan Ford joint venture’s plant in Chongqing, which has been building the Chinese-market Corsair since 2020. Ford is not alone in the arrangement: Stellantis and Dongfeng registered a company in the same month to build Jeeps in Wuhan for export.

A different hybrid from the Chinese car

The American version gets a powertrain the Chinese range does not offer. A 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder works with two electric motors through a continuously variable automatic transmission for a combined 305 hp, with all-wheel drive standard. There is no charging port. The Chinese Corsair hybrid uses a 1.5-litre engine and drives the front wheels.

That choice has a customs dimension. Plug-in hybrids built in China are classified alongside electric cars for US tariff purposes and carry a 100% duty; a conventional hybrid is taxed like a petrol car, at the same 52.5% the China-built Lincoln Nautilus pays. Lincoln has not linked the powertrain to the tariff.

The body is the facelift already applied in China: reshaped bumpers, a mesh grille the headlamps run into, and 18, 19 and 20-inch wheel designs. The cabin keeps the North American layout, with a digital instrument display behind the wheel and a separate 13.2-inch touchscreen, rather than the screen layout Lincoln uses on the Chinese car.

$48,790 against $41,480

The Premiere lists at $46,495 and the Reserve at $53,495, each before a $2,295 destination charge, so $48,790 and $55,790 delivered. The 2026 Corsair Premiere was $41,480 delivered, on a $1,495 destination charge. Ford has attributed most of the difference to added standard equipment rather than to the tariff, and the two cars are not quite comparable: the 2026 base car was front-wheel drive with a 250 hp petrol engine, while every 2027 Corsair has all-wheel drive, the 305 hp hybrid and BlueCruise 1.5 as standard.

The arrangement has a stated end date. Ford said on 12 August 2026 that it will stop importing China-built Lincolns into the United States and expand Lincoln production at American plants from 2030. It has not said where the Corsair would go, or whether it survives the move.

It is built by the Changan Ford joint venture in Hangzhou, one of two Lincolns made in China for the US market. The 2027 model year brings a new front end, five wheel designs from 19 to 22 inches and three new interior themes, reaching dealers in early 2027.
