Dongfeng's premium new-energy brand, announced in November 2025 and built around Huawei's Qiankun technology stack. Its first model, the X9, is a full-size extended-range SUV made in Chengdu.
The Epicland X9 is a full-size six-seat SUV and the first model from Dongfeng's Huawei-partnered brand. It is sold only as an extended-range electric vehicle, with a 74.29 kWh CATL battery on an 800 V system, 465 km of CLTC electric range and more than 1,500 km combined. Pre-sale prices run from 299,800 to 379,800 yuan ($44,200 to $56,000).
Epicland is a Chinese new-energy brand owned by Dongfeng Motor and developed with Huawei. Dongfeng announced it in November 2025 at Huawei’s Qiankun ecosystem conference, alongside a second brand built the same way with GAC. Both belong to a tier of Huawei partnerships that is separate from HIMA, the alliance behind AITO, Luxeed, Stelato and Maextro: in HIMA, Huawei helps define the product and sells the cars through its own stores, while in the Qiankun arrangement the carmaker leads those decisions and Huawei supplies the technology underneath.
What Huawei supplies is most of the electronics a driver interacts with. Epicland models use the Qiankun ADS driver-assistance system, the HarmonyOS cabin software, Huawei audio, and the company’s digital chassis control. Dongfeng contributes the vehicle engineering and the factory: production runs at a rebuilt plant in the Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone, which Epicland describes as its southwestern manufacturing base.
The brand launched with a single model, the X9, a full-size six-seat SUV positioned at the top of the family segment. It is an extended-range electric vehicle, which means the wheels are always driven by electric motors and the petrol engine acts only as a generator. Pre-orders opened on 18 August 2026 and the model goes on sale in the third quarter.
