Overview

The Fulwin A9 is Chery’s mid-size electric fastback sedan, sold under the Fengyun (Fulwin) sub-brand and positioned as an entry into China’s crowded budget-EV sedan segment. It measures 4,836 mm long on a 2,900 mm wheelbase, with a 0.22 Cd drag coefficient shaped by a closed front fascia and split matrix headlights. The name was previously used on a larger PHEV sedan, which Chery renamed A9L in 2025 to make room for this smaller model.

The pure-electric version uses a single 178 kW (239 hp) rear motor producing 275 Nm of torque, paired with a 70.11 kWh Rhino E lithium-iron-phosphate battery for 655 km of CLTC range and a claimed 6.9-second 0-100 km/h time. DC fast charging takes the pack from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes. Chery also sells an extended-range (EREV) version, which swaps the traction battery for a smaller pack backed by a 1.5-litre turbo engine that runs only as a generator, giving 116 or 175 km of electric-only WLTC range and 1.01 L/100 km of fuel consumption once the engine takes over.

Chery launched the Fulwin A9 on July 25, 2026, with pure-electric trims priced from 109,900 to 129,900 yuan (roughly $15,300 to $18,100). The top Max LiDAR trim adds a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor for driver-assistance features that the lower trims do without. Pre-sales opened on July 9 and had drawn 18,173 firm orders within the first 72 hours.

Inside, the Fulwin A9 follows Chery’s current cabin language, with a wide dashboard-spanning display setup and eight airbags as standard, including side curtain airbags stretching 1,987 mm to cover both rows.
