Overview

The Da Han is BYD’s new flagship sedan for the Chinese market and the first D-segment car in the Dynasty family, the naming line that already includes the Han, the Tang and the Qin. It sits above the Han rather than replacing it: 5,256 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,510 mm tall on a 3,130 mm wheelbase, with five seats. The name translates as “Great Han”.

Battery-electric versions carry a 102.326 kWh lithium iron phosphate Blade pack supplied by BYD’s own FinDreams division, weighing 725.9 kg at an energy density of 141 Wh/kg. The rear-drive car uses a single 370 kW (496 hp) motor and is rated at 970 or 1,008 km on the CLTC cycle depending on specification, with an unladen weight between 2,260 and 2,325 kg. The all-wheel-drive car adds a second motor for 570 kW (764 hp) combined and is rated at 820, 850 or 880 km on the same battery, weighing 2,505 kg. BYD says the pack supports flash charging, though it has not confirmed which generation of Blade cell the Da Han uses or published charging times.

A plug-in hybrid has been filed alongside the electric cars. It combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged BYD472ZQB engine rated at 115 kW (154 hp) with a 200 kW (268 hp) drive motor and a 54.489 kWh LFP battery for a claimed 470 km of electric-only range. BYD has not published a combined system output for it.

Equipment confirmed so far centres on the driver-assistance hardware: BYD’s DiPilot 5.0 suite, a roof-mounted lidar unit, and cameras built into the front fenders. Rear-wheel steering is fitted, which shortens the turning circle on a car of this length. The Da Han makes its public debut at the Chengdu Auto Show between 21 and 30 August 2026. Pricing, trim names and an on-sale date have not been announced.

Frequently asked questions
What is the range of the BYD Da Han?
The BYD Da Han offers up to 1008 km of range.
How powerful is the BYD Da Han?
The BYD Da Han produces up to 496 hp.
What battery does the BYD Da Han have?
The BYD Da Han uses a 102.3 kWh battery.
What type of car is the BYD Da Han?
The BYD Da Han is a Sedan.
How is the BYD Da Han different from the BYD Han?
The Da Han is a larger, more expensive car positioned above the Han rather than replacing it. At 5,256 mm long on a 3,130 mm wheelbase it is the first D-segment sedan in BYD's Dynasty line, and it introduces equipment the Han does not offer, including rear-wheel steering and a roof-mounted lidar. The name reads as "Great Han" in Chinese.
Does the BYD Da Han come as a plug-in hybrid?
Yes. Alongside the battery-electric versions, BYD has filed a plug-in hybrid Da Han pairing a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine rated at 115 kW with a 200 kW drive motor and a 54.489 kWh LFP battery, giving a claimed 470 km of electric-only range on the CLTC cycle.
What does the BYD Da Han's 1,008 km range figure actually measure?
It is a CLTC figure, the Chinese homologation cycle, and it applies only to the rear-drive version on the 102.3 kWh battery. CLTC is measured at lower average speeds than WLTP or EPA testing and returns noticeably higher numbers for the same car, so the Da Han's real-world range will be lower. The all-wheel-drive versions are rated between 820 and 880 km on the same cycle and the same pack.
When does the BYD Da Han go on sale and what will it cost?
The Da Han makes its public debut at the Chengdu Auto Show, which runs from 21 to 30 August 2026. BYD has released official images and filed technical specifications but has not announced prices, trim names or an on-sale date.
