Overview

The MG 07 is SAIC’s flagship fastback for the Chinese market, replacing the MG 7 that launched in 2023. It measures 4,886 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,485 mm tall on a 2,825 mm wheelbase, and is built on SAIC’s E3 “Nebula” modular platform at the group’s Zhengzhou plant. Pre-sales opened on 29 July 2026 with five battery-electric trims; the official launch and first deliveries follow in late August.

The range splits cleanly in two. The 650 Comfort, 610 LiDAR and 610 Flagship share a 67 kWh semi-solid-state battery from QingTao Energy and a 176 kW (236 hp) motor, reaching 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds on a 400V architecture with 3C charging, quoted at roughly 20 minutes for 30 to 80 percent. Range is 650 km CLTC on the base car and 610 km on the two lidar-equipped trims, which carry more hardware. The 845 LiDAR and 845 Flagship step up to a 91 kWh CATL ternary lithium pack and a 235 kW (315 hp) motor, 5.9 seconds to 100 km/h, on an 800V architecture with 5C charging rated at 12 minutes for the same window. The 845 km figure is CLTC, the Chinese cycle, which returns higher numbers than WLTP or EPA testing.

The 07 is the first MG sold with lidar. Every trim above the base 650 Comfort carries a roof-mounted unit plus 11 exterior cameras, running Momenta’s R7 “world model” driver-assistance software; the 650 Comfort uses a camera-only system built on a Horizon Robotics Journey J6B chip. Inside, all trims get a 15.6-inch 2.5K central touchscreen, an 8.88-inch instrument display, a 21-speaker 7.1.4-channel audio system and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295P processor.

A plug-in hybrid version has also been shown, combining a 1.5-litre engine rated at 82 kW with a 152 kW drive motor and a 30 kWh battery for a claimed 185 km of electric range. It was not part of the July pre-sale and has no announced price. Pre-sale pricing for the electric cars runs from ¥125,900 to ¥165,900 ($18,600 to $24,500).

Which MG 07 versions get the semi-solid-state battery?
The three cheaper trims. The 650 Comfort, 610 LiDAR and 610 Flagship all use a 67 kWh semi-solid-state pack from QingTao Energy, a SAIC-backed battery maker. The two long-range trims, the 845 LiDAR and 845 Flagship, use a conventional 91 kWh CATL ternary lithium pack instead. The newer chemistry is in the less expensive cars, not the longest-range ones.
Does the MG 07 come as a plug-in hybrid?
A plug-in hybrid MG 07 has been shown, pairing a 1.5-litre engine rated at 82 kW with a 152 kW drive motor and a 30 kWh battery for a claimed 185 km of electric-only range. It was not part of the pre-sale lineup that opened in July 2026, and MG has not announced pricing or an on-sale date for it. All five pre-sale trims are battery-electric.
Which MG 07 trims have lidar?
All except the entry-level 650 Comfort. The four trims above it carry a roof-mounted lidar unit and 11 exterior cameras running Momenta's R7 driver-assistance system, which makes the 07 the first MG fitted with lidar. The 650 Comfort uses a camera-based system on a Horizon Robotics Journey J6B chip instead.
How quickly does the MG 07 charge?
It depends on the battery. The 845 km versions run an 800V architecture with 5C peak charging and are quoted at 12 minutes for 30 to 80 percent. The 67 kWh versions use a 400V architecture with 3C charging and take around 20 minutes for the same 30 to 80 percent window.
