Overview

The C8 Preliator XXV is the car Spyker returned with in August 2026, five years after the company was declared bankrupt. It is a mid-engined two-seat coupe limited to 25 examples, which is what the Roman numerals in the name stand for, and it was shown at The Quail during Monterey Car Week on 14 August. The shape is a development of the C8 that Spyker has built in various forms since 2000, not a new one.

Underneath is an aluminium spaceframe built in-house, with hand-formed aluminium panels made by Coventry Prototype Panels in England. Spyker gives a dry weight of 1,525 kg against a target of 1,490 kg, and quotes roughly 2,100 hours of work per car. Braking is by carbon-ceramic discs with six-piston front calipers. The company says the car went from sketch to a finished body in about two months, using the existing C8 chassis with a revised rear subframe and a relocated fuel tank.

The engine is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 of Audi origin, reworked by Abt, mounted behind the seats and visible through glass. Spyker quotes 800 PS and 1,000 Nm with a limit of 8,000 rpm; in the measure used in Britain and the United States that is 789 hp and 738 lb-ft. Drive goes to the rear wheels through a six-speed Graziano manual gearbox, the only transmission offered, with the shift linkage left exposed between the seats in the way every road-going Spyker has had since the first C8. Claimed figures are 2.7 seconds to 100 km/h and a top speed above 350 km/h.

The detailing is where most of the hours go. The launch car is painted Quail Green with rose-gold brightwork on the wheels, the grille mesh, the roof surround and the shift linkage, and the wheels are cut in a turbine pattern that repeats in the tail lamps and the perforated panels front and rear. The cabin is trimmed in embossed leather with an iso-grid stitch pattern and aircraft-style dial faces. Victor Muller put the price at about 1.5 million euros; reports from Monterey quoted about 1.6 million. Nineteen of the 25 were claimed as sold during that week, and the first completed car went to Volodymyr Nosov, who became the company’s co-owner in June 2026.
