The Tank 300 is GWM’s body-on-frame off-roader. Its 2026 update added an elongated Tank 300L variant with a 3,010 mm wheelbase versus 2,750 mm on the standard car. The 300L measures 4,886 x 1,984 x 1,927 mm, up from 4,750 x 1,930 x 1,903 mm on the regular Tank 300.
The standard-wheelbase Tank 300 carries over its combustion options: a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 217 hp (220 PS) and 380 Nm, and a 2.4-litre turbo diesel with 181 hp (184 PS) and 480 Nm. The 300L is offered with plug-in hybrid power only. The Hi4-T system makes 415 hp (421 PS) and 750 Nm with a 37.1 kWh battery, and the headline addition is Hi4-Z, a twin-motor plug-in hybrid pairing a turbo-petrol engine with two electric motors and a 59.6 kWh battery for 751 hp (761 PS), 1,195 Nm, roughly 200 km of WLTC electric-only range, and up to 1,122 km of combined range.
Inside, the updated Chinese Tank 300 gains a 15.6-inch 2.5K infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a redesigned steering wheel, and a roof-mounted lidar unit for GWM’s Coffee Pilot 2 driver-assistance system. Front seats add ventilation, massage, and memory functions.
Chinese prices start at ¥199,800 (about $29,700) for the petrol and ¥234,800 (about $34,900) for the diesel. The Tank 300L costs from ¥249,800 (about $37,100) as a Hi4-T and ¥259,800 (about $38,600) as a Hi4-Z. Sales opened in China on July 19, 2026.
Tank 300 in Europe
In Italy, GWM sells the standard-wheelbase Tank 300 as the Premium Diesel from €46,500 (about $54,400) and the Hi4-T plug-in hybrid from €51,400 (about $60,100), both with four-wheel drive, with deliveries from November 2026. The European Hi4-T combines a 245 PS (242 hp) 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine with a 163 PS (161 hp) electric motor for 402 hp (408 PS), against 415 hp for the Chinese 300L Hi4-T. DC charging at up to 50 kW takes the battery from 30 to 80% in 24 minutes.
The European car keeps the off-road hardware: a low-range transfer case, front and rear differential locks, nine drive modes, a 700 mm wading depth and a 2,500 kg towing capacity. The cabin has two 12.3-inch screens and a camera view of the ground beneath the car.
