The 2027 Toyota Highlander EV is the battery-electric version of Toyota’s three-row family SUV, and two firsts for the brand in the United States: its first three-row BEV, and the first battery-electric Toyota assembled on American soil, at the Georgetown plant in Kentucky. It measures 198.8 inches long on a 120.1-inch wheelbase and seats up to seven, with 15.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row and 45.6 with that row folded.
Four configurations are offered across two grades. The XLE front-wheel-drive model uses a single motor and a 77 kWh battery for 221 hp and a manufacturer-estimated 287 miles of range. Adding a rear motor brings all-wheel drive and 338 hp, rated at 270 miles with the 77 kWh pack. Stepping up to the 95.8 kWh battery, available on the XLE AWD and standard on the Limited AWD, lifts the estimate to 320 miles.
Charging runs through a native NACS port, with a 10 to 80 percent DC fast charge quoted at roughly 30 minutes and an 11 kW onboard AC charger for home use. Vehicle-to-load output turns the battery into a power source for tools and appliances. Inside, a 14-inch touchscreen anchors the dashboard and Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 is standard.
Toyota has not published pricing. The company expects the Highlander EV to go on sale in late 2026, with deliveries continuing into early 2027.
