Alpine unveiled the A310 VISION at the Paris Motor Show on 12 October, timed to the 55th anniversary of the four-cylinder A310 and the 50th of the A310 V6. Alpine calls it “an independent design concept” and says it is not the announcement of a future production model. It gives no powertrain, power or performance figures.

Dimensions and design

The coupe is 4.55 m long, 1.18 m high and 2.03 m wide at the rear, on a 2.45 m wheelbase. The bodywork is aluminium, with a black lower section whose texture Alpine says is inspired by Formula 1. Other details Alpine lists are integrated headlights with a “pop-down” effect, an S-duct in the bonnet, a central “Y zero” blade running through the car, a two-part split rear wing and blade-shaped rear lights that also work as downforce elements.

The platform underneath

The news for future Alpine cars is the Alpine Performance Platform, or APP. Alpine says it is designed “to push the limits of sports cars while retaining practical modularity”, and that it lets designers try new proportions and aerodynamic solutions. The release says APP supports the brand’s future high-performance sports car ambitions but names no model. Alpine’s electric hot hatch, the A290, is built on a different platform.
