Audi has announced plans to build its first US production site in Georgia. The company intends to invest around $4 billion and create approximately 4,500 jobs, according to its press release of 25 October 2026. The plant is designed for up to 200,000 vehicles a year, with construction scheduled to begin in 2027 and production to start in the early 2030s.
Site and product
The plant will stand at the Middle Georgia Mega Site, which Audi says offers an investment-ready site, a skilled workforce, an established supplier network and room for future expansion. The release describes the output as premium SUVs tailored to North American customers. It names no models, and no drivetrain mix has been published.
Why Audi is building in the US
Audi calls the US the world’s second-largest premium market and says it has “not yet realized our full potential” there, in the words of Chairman of the Board of Management Gernot Döllner. Local production is meant to reduce exposure to trade and currency risks, and the company describes North America as a third major pillar of its production network alongside Europe and China. Germany and Europe remain the industrial backbone of Audi, the release says.
