Volkswagen Group delivered 1,885,300 vehicles to customers in the third quarter of 2026, down 14.3% from 2,198,900 a year earlier. These are deliveries to customers, not factory output. Over January to September the group delivered 6,011,000 vehicles, down 9.0%.
China
Deliveries in China fell 38.5% in the quarter, to 405,800 from 660,300, and 30.2% over nine months, to 1,378,800. Volkswagen says the Chinese market as a whole declined sharply, particularly in combustion-engine vehicles. Electrified cars went the other way: the group delivered about 30% more of them in China than in the third quarter of 2025, with plug-in hybrids and range-extender models in particular demand.
Outside China, deliveries were stable over nine months, according to Volkswagen. South America rose 4.3% to 502,500 and Europe rose 1.7% to 2,956,000. North America fell 4.0% to 680,200, and US deliveries fell 7.8%.
Deliveries by brand
Four of the five brands below fell in the quarter. Škoda was the only one to grow, and it is also up over nine months.
| Brand | Q3 deliveries | Q3 change (%) | Jan-Sep change (%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Volkswagen Passenger Cars | 946,600 | -19.3 | -13.7 |
| Audi | 314,900 | -19.7 | -11.4 |
| Škoda | 256,700 | +0.2 | +6.1 |
| SEAT/CUPRA | 133,700 | -2.3 | -1.4 |
| Porsche | 56,200 | -15.0 | -16.0 |
Electric cars in Europe
Battery-electric deliveries in Europe rose 19.6% in the quarter to 209,100, from 174,800, and 12.1% over nine months to 586,100. The BEV share of the group’s European deliveries went from 18% to 20% after nine months. BEV order intake in Europe rose by more than 60% in the quarter, and BEVs now make up around 40% of the group’s European order book, which Volkswagen says has doubled in size for electric models since the end of 2025.
Volkswagen credits high fuel prices and a wider choice of entry-level models. The Electric Urban Car Family, made up of the ID. Polo, ID. Cross, Škoda Epiq and CUPRA Raval, has drawn nearly 150,000 orders since launch.
Worldwide, BEV deliveries were 678,700 over nine months, down 5%. The group puts that on the United States, where BEV deliveries fell 78% after government subsidies expired and tariffs kept up pressure. Plug-in hybrid and range-extender deliveries rose about 23% to 368,000.
