Geely Auto Group unveiled Geely Smart Charging in Ningbo on 23 September: a fifth-generation charging station with a peak output of 2,250 kW, a battery built to take 12C charging and an AI model that manages the charge. In tests, a Zeekr 001 and a Lynk & Co 10 fitted with that battery went from 10 to 70% in 4 minutes 30 seconds and from 10 to 97% in 8 minutes 40 seconds.
The battery and the charger
The cells are the Shendun Golden Battery. A 12C rating means a peak charging rate of 12 times the pack’s capacity per hour, so a pack charged at that rate for five minutes would take on a full pack’s worth of energy. The release does not give the pack’s capacity, the temperature of the test or the power the cars actually drew, so the 2,250 kW figure describes the station and not what either car received.
Geely also showed a new Ultra Short Blade Battery, rated up to 6C. Laser-welded cell tabs and covers cut the heat produced during charging by 10%.
The AI model
Xingrui PowerMind is an energy model developed jointly with StepFun. It predicts the battery’s temperature up to 30 seconds ahead and lowers charging power in advance, before the pack overheats. Geely says combining that control with battery restoration technology raises cycle life by 20%.
What Geely has not said
The release carries no date for production cars, no station rollout figures and no price. It also does not say whether the test battery will be fitted to the Lynk & Co 10 or the Zeekr 001 on sale.
