Li Auto has put the second-generation L8 on sale in its home market. The crossover shares its hardware with the flagship L9, but where the L9 carries three rows and six seats, the L8 is now built strictly as a five-seater.
The L8 moves onto Li Auto’s new 800V architecture. It keeps the company’s extended-range layout: a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine works only as a generator, never driving the wheels, while two electric motors deliver 571 hp and 710 Nm. A 72.7 kWh battery is good for 430 km of electric range on the CLTC cycle, rising to 1,670 km combined once the range extender is counted. With one fewer row than the L9, the sprint to 100 km/h takes 4.8 seconds. The body measures 5,135 mm long on a 3,045 mm wheelbase.
Two trims are offered. The Ultra rides on air suspension with rear-wheel steering, and carries one lidar unit and a single Mach M100 processor rated at 1,280 TOPS. The Livis steps up to an active 800V electrohydraulic suspension, four lidar units and two Mach M100 chips.
Inside, a head-up projection display replaces the instrument cluster, paired with a single 29-inch central media screen and a 21-inch ceiling screen for the second row. The cabin uses Nappa leather, with heating, ventilation and massage on every seat, ottomans for the rear chairs and a 27-speaker audio system. The restyled exterior has more steeply raked rear pillars, semi-flush door handles, a rear plate relocated to the tailgate, and the option of two-tone paint.
The L8 Ultra starts at ¥369,800 (about $54,300) and the L8 Livis at ¥429,800 (about $63,100). No markets outside China have been announced.
