Land Rover previewed the Range Rover GT on 22 July, confirming the fifth model in the Range Rover family and the first built purely as a battery-electric vehicle. It rides on JLR’s new EMA (Electrified Modular Architecture) platform, with a hybrid version due to join the range later in the car’s life. Land Rover will build it at Halewood in Merseyside, alongside the brand’s existing combustion and hybrid models.
The GT drops the boxy stance of the rest of the lineup for a lower, coupe-style fastback with a sloping roofline, a panoramic roof, and a roof-mounted communications fin, while keeping a conventional rear window rather than going screen-only. Land Rover calls it its “most car-like, yet unmistakably capable” Range Rover to date, and camouflaged prototypes shown this week wore a wrap patterned on the topography around the brand’s Gaydon design studio.
Land Rover’s own reveal disclosed no technical figures, but outlets that got early technical briefings, including InsideEVs and Electrifying.com, describe a cabin built around a single 13in OLED touchscreen and a separate driver display, a step back from the layered screen stacks common on rival luxury EVs. A semi-translucent sliding cover on the center console hides twin wireless phone chargers and a heated and cooled cubby. The GT is reported to offer a 2+2 layout or a three-seat rear bench, with the 2+2 version adding extra chargers and climate controls between the rear seats. The same outlets describe an 800V electrical system with DC charging up to 350 kW, for a 10 to 80 percent charge in roughly 30 minutes, though Land Rover itself has not confirmed this.
Land Rover says full specifications, including power, battery size, range, and pricing, will follow later in 2026, with prototypes completing final global testing at the time of this preview.
