GWM has opened Chinese pre-orders for an updated Tank 300, its body-on-frame off-roader, alongside a new elongated Tank 300L variant. The 300L rides on a 3,010 mm wheelbase versus 2,750 mm on the standard car, growing overall dimensions to 4,886 x 1,984 x 1,927 mm from 4,750 x 1,930 x 1,903 mm. Both get a revised exterior and a more tech-forward cabin.

Four powertrains, one new

The standard-wheelbase Tank 300 keeps its combustion options: a 2.0-litre turbo petrol now producing 245 hp and 380 Nm, and a 2.4-litre turbo diesel at 184 hp and 480 Nm. The 300L is plug-in hybrid only. The existing Hi4-T system continues at 421 hp and 750 Nm, and the new Hi4-Z pairs a turbo petrol engine with two electric motors and a 59.6 kWh battery for 761 hp, 1,195 Nm, about 200 km of electric-only range, and up to 1,122 km combined.

Interior updates

The refreshed Tank 300 gains a 15.6-inch 2.5K infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a redesigned steering wheel, and a roof-mounted lidar unit for GWM’s Coffee Pilot 2 driver-assistance system. Front seats add ventilation, massage, and memory functions.

Pricing and timing

Chinese pricing for the Tank 300L starts from ¥259,800 (about $38,320) for the Hi4-T and ¥269,800 (about $39,790) for the Hi4-Z. Sales open in China on July 19, 2026. GWM has not announced export plans for the elongated version.
