Takaoka is one of Toyota’s oldest continuously operating plants, built in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, to launch the first-generation Corolla, with production starting in January 1967. It sits on land spanning what is now Toyota City, Miyoshi City and Kariya City, and originally handled everything from stamping through final assembly.

The plant remains a Corolla and RAV4 production site today. Since 2025 it has also built the Toyota C-HR EV, badged C-HR+ in Europe, and the Subaru Uncharted, a rebadged version developed jointly by Toyota and Subaru on the same e-TNGA electric platform. The two share their platform, motors and 74.7 kWh battery, assembled together on Takaoka’s line.
