Stellantis Zaragoza sits in Figueruelas, on the northern edge of the city of Zaragoza in Aragon. General Motors built the plant in 1982 as an Opel factory. It passed to PSA Group with the 2017 Opel/Vauxhall acquisition and became a Stellantis site when PSA merged with Fiat Chrysler in 2021. Stellantis has built more than 13 million vehicles there since opening, across five generations of the Corsa plus the Kadett, Astra, Meriva, Mokka, Crossland X and Citroen C3 Aircross.
The current-generation Opel and Vauxhall Corsa has been built exclusively at Zaragoza since 2019, and the plant became the first in Europe to build an electric Opel model when Corsa-e production started there in 2020. Peugeot moved e-208 production to Zaragoza from Slovakia’s Trnava plant in 2023, alongside the Corsa it shares a platform with. The petrol-engined 208 is built separately, in Kenitra, Morocco.
From the second half of 2026, Zaragoza adds a fourth brand. Leapmotor International, a joint venture 51% owned by Stellantis and 49% by the Chinese EV maker Leapmotor, is directing production of the B10 SUV at the site, with the B05, A10 and A05 due to follow through 2027. Component supply is backed by Lieder Automotive, a new joint venture between China’s Duoli Technology and the Basque supplier Fagor Ederlan. Next to the vehicle plant, Stellantis and battery maker CATL are building a 4.1 billion euro, 50 GWh lithium-iron-phosphate gigafactory, targeting production by late 2026.
