Cupra
Spanish performance-focused marque spun off from SEAT in 2018, part of the Volkswagen Group. Builds sporty ICE, hybrid, and electric models including the Formentor, Tavascan, and Raval, sharing Volkswagen Group platforms and drivetrains.
Cupra emerged from Cupra Racing, SEAT’s motorsport and performance division founded in 1996, and became a standalone brand within the Volkswagen Group in January 2018. The company is headquartered alongside SEAT in Martorell, near Barcelona, and the two brands continue to share a factory and platform engineering.
Cupra’s lineup mixes petrol and hybrid crossovers like the Formentor and Terramar with electric models including the Born, Tavascan, and the compact Raval hatchback. Vehicles are built on shared Volkswagen Group platforms, including the MEB electric architecture, positioning Cupra as the sportier, design-led counterpart to SEAT within the group.
