Denza
BYD's premium new-energy vehicle brand, positioned above the mainstream BYD lineup. Founded in 2010 as a joint venture with Mercedes-Benz, it became a wholly owned BYD subsidiary in 2022 and now spans MPVs, SUVs and, with the Z line, electric sports cars.
Denza is BYD’s premium new-energy vehicle brand, created in 2010 as a 50/50 joint venture with Mercedes-Benz under the name Shenzhen BYD Daimler New Technology. Mercedes contributed early design and safety engineering, and its three-pointed-star influence showed up in Denza’s first-generation cars, but the German automaker gradually reduced its stake before exiting completely in 2022, leaving BYD as sole owner.
Since then Denza has grown into a full lineup positioned above mainstream BYD models, built on the same e-Platform architecture and Blade LFP battery technology but with higher-end trim, tech and pricing. The D9 MPV and N7/N8 SUVs anchor the range in China, and the brand has pushed into performance with the Z series of electric sports cars, shown in Coupe, Spider and track-focused Racing form.
Denza is headquartered in Shenzhen and sells primarily in China, with a growing export footprint in Hong Kong, Southeast Asia and Central Asia, alongside international showcase appearances such as the Z’s debut at the UK’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
