Denza opened pre-orders for the Z9S on August 3, and the number carrying the announcement is 1,100 km - a CLTC range figure the BYD premium brand is billing as the longest of any mass-produced electric car. That claim deserves the same treatment as any range superlative: state the cycle, the pack and what else is nearby before repeating it.
The 1,100 km figure applies to the range-topping Flash Charging Performance trim, which pairs a tri-motor all-wheel-drive setup - a combined 890 kW (1,194 hp) - with the same 102.3 kWh second-generation Blade Battery used across the line, and does 0-100 km/h in 2.68 seconds. The two lower trims, Flash Charging Premium and Flagship, use a single 370 kW (503 hp) rear motor and are rated at 780 km and 920 km respectively. CLTC is measured at lower average speeds than WLTP or EPA testing, so none of these figures will carry over directly if the Z9S is homologated outside China.
All three trims share BYD’s Flash Charging hardware, rated at 10-70% in about five minutes and 10-97% in roughly nine. The sedan measures 5,090 mm long on a 3,025 mm wheelbase, with rear-wheel steering cutting its turning radius to 4.75 m.
Pre-sale prices run ¥319,800 to ¥389,800 ($47,100 to $57,400). The Z9S sits above Denza’s existing Z coupe, spider and track-focused Racing line, extending the sports-car sub-brand into a full-size sedan; Denza has not announced a formal on-sale date.
The Denza Z is BYD's premium-brand electric sports car, sold as Coupe, Spider and track-focused Racing versions with a shared 1604 hp tri-motor powertrain. The Racing does 0-100 km/h in 1.96 seconds, and a future ~2000 hp extreme version is aimed at a Nurburgring lap record.
The Denza D9 is a seven-seat luxury MPV from BYD's Denza brand, sold as a DM-i plug-in hybrid with 401 km of CLTC electric range or as a pure EV with up to 800 km CLTC range. Prices start from ¥359,800.
