Denza, BYD’s premium brand, unveiled its first sports car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK. The Z arrived in Coupe and track-focused Racing form for their world debut, joining the Spider version that had already shown at Auto China 2026 in Beijing back in April. A later, more extreme Racing derivative will chase a Nurburgring lap record for production EVs.
All three versions share the same tri-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain, producing 1604 hp and 1240 Nm, with a 30% torque overboost available for 20-second bursts. Power comes from a 76 kWh LFP battery on an 800V architecture, part of BYD’s second-generation Blade pack. WLTP range is 409 km for the Coupe, 399 km for the Spider and 380 km for the Racing.
The performance numbers scale with each body style. The Coupe does 0-100 km/h in 2.25 seconds and the Spider in 2.3 seconds, both reaching around 300 km/h. The Racing, running on semi-slick tires, cuts that to 1.96 seconds and a 350 km/h top speed, helped by a carbon-fiber aero package that generates up to 1060 kg of downforce at that speed. Chassis technology includes a steer-by-wire “Fudi” system, carbon-ceramic brakes and BYD’s DiSus-M magnetorheological suspension.
Charging peaks at 1500 kW, enough to take the battery from 10 to 70% in five minutes or 10 to 97% in nine, with a cold-weather figure of 20 to 97% in twelve minutes at -30C. BYD says an even more powerful version, targeting around 2000 hp, is planned to attempt a Nurburgring lap record for series-production electric vehicles, though specifications and timing have not been detailed.
UK pricing starts at £142,900 ($190,770) for the Coupe, £159,900 ($213,470) for the Spider and £172,900 ($230,820) for the Racing. No on-sale date or wider international rollout has been confirmed; the Goodwood and Auto China appearances so far are showcases as Denza scouts export markets for the model.
