The Dolphin G DM-i is BYD’s first PHEV designed specifically for European and export markets. The B-segment hatchback competes with the Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Yaris, and Opel Corsa in size, but undercuts them on EV running costs and overall range.
Platform — BYD e-Platform 3.0. Length 4,160 mm — positioned between the electric Dolphin (4,290 mm) and the Dolphin Surf (3,990 mm).
Powertrain — DM-i plug-in hybrid: 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine (98 hp) plus an electric motor. Two expected configurations: 166 hp combined with 7.8 kWh battery (40 km WLTP EV range), or 212 hp combined with 18 kWh battery (90 km WLTP EV range). Total range exceeds 1,000 km.
Design — smooth exterior with flush door handles and a floating roofline visible in teasers. Interior not yet shown.
