Overview

The GMC Sierra 1500 is General Motors’ full-size pickup sold under the GMC badge, the more upmarket twin of the Chevrolet Silverado. The 2026 truck is sold in eight trims: Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, AT4X, Denali and Denali Ultimate, from $38,300 for the Pro to $84,400 for the Denali Ultimate.

The base engine is the 2.7-litre TurboMax turbo-four, with 310 hp and 430 lb-ft (583 Nm) through an 8-speed automatic. Above it are a 5.3-litre V8 with 355 hp and a 6.2-litre V8 with 420 hp, and a 3.0-litre Duramax turbodiesel with 495 lb-ft (671 Nm). The V8s and the diesel use a 10-speed automatic. The diesel gives the highest towing rating, up to 13,300 lb (about 6,030 kg) in a two-wheel-drive Double Cab with the standard bed.

The AT4 and AT4X are the off-road versions and the Denali and Denali Ultimate the luxury ones; the Denali Ultimate comes with the 6.2-litre V8 as standard.

2027 GMC Sierra 1500

GMC previewed a redesigned Sierra 1500 for the 2027 model year in June 2026. It replaces the V8s with new 5.7 and 6.6-litre engines and keeps the TurboMax and the Duramax diesel, all with a 10-speed automatic. The 6.6-litre V8 comes as standard on the Denali Ultimate, whose cabin has more than 60 inches of combined displays. The 2027 truck also has a new GM interface that shows Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in a panel beside GM’s own apps, and its 5.7 and 6.6-litre V8s have no dipstick. The first trucks are due at dealers before the end of 2026; prices and full specifications have not been released.
