The Nissan NX8 is a mid-to-full-size SUV built by Dongfeng Nissan for the Chinese market only, launched in April 2026 on the joint venture’s new Tianyan Architecture 2.0 platform. It measures 4,870 mm long on a 2,917 mm wheelbase, with a five-seat cabin and 773 litres of boot space.
Two powertrains share the same body. The battery-electric version runs on an 800V silicon-carbide architecture with a single rear motor, offered with a 65 kWh battery making 288 hp for 580 km of CLTC range, or an 81 kWh pack making 335 hp for 650 km, and supports up to 463 kW of DC fast charging, enough to add around 300 km of range in about 12 minutes. The range-extended version pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, used purely as a generator, with a 265 hp rear motor for 310 km of electric-only range and 1,450 km combined, drawing on a CATL lithium iron phosphate battery.
Inside, the NX8 carries dual 15.6-inch displays for driver and passenger alongside a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, with higher trims adding a 63-inch augmented-reality head-up display and a 25-speaker sound system. Rear-seat space includes up to 1,285 mm of headroom and 760 mm of legroom.
Prices start from ¥159,900 (about $20,700) for the entry electric and range-extended trims alike, rising to ¥199,900 (~$29,700) for the range-topping electric Master Edition, with a limited-time discount that brought entry pricing down to ¥149,900 (~$22,300) at launch. The NX8 took more than 8,000 orders within 30 minutes of going on sale.
