Overview

The e.MAS 7 is a five-seat SUV and the car that launched Proton’s e.MAS sub-brand in December 2024, sold as a battery-electric model and, since February 2026, as a plug-in hybrid on the same 4,740 mm body. All three electric trims share the same 215 hp, 320 Nm front motor and single-ratio automatic; what changes between them is battery size. The Prime carries a 49.52 kWh pack for 345 km WLTP, priced from RM103,800 (about $25,400). The Premium’s 60.22 kWh battery reaches 410 km for RM119,800, and the Premium Plus tops out at a 68.39 kWh pack good for 450 km, from RM125,800 (about $30,800) and rated for 115 kW DC fast charging.

The plug-in hybrid pairs a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine (99 hp, 125 Nm) with a traction motor adding 218 hp and 262 Nm, for a combined 262 hp through a single-speed transmission. Prime and Premium share an 18.4 kWh CATL LFP battery for 83 km of electric-only WLTP range and up to 943 km combined, from RM109,800 and RM123,800 (about $26,800 and $30,300). The Premium Plus steps up to a 29.8 kWh Aegis Short Blade LFP pack, extending electric-only range to 146 km and combined range to 996 km, from RM129,800 (about $31,700). Proton’s first 5,000 buyers get an RM4,000 rebate that lowers all three prices by that amount. Body and interior are shared with the electric car; the battery and the engine under the floor are what separate them.

Boot space is 461 litres across the range. The e.MAS 7 is built on a Geely-developed platform and assembled in Malaysia rather than imported complete, part of Proton’s push to build its electrified cars domestically.

It was Proton’s first e.MAS model and remains the brand’s second-best-selling EV behind the smaller e.MAS 5, with more than 12,000 units registered in Malaysia in the first seven months of 2026.
