The Scout Terra is a full-size pickup truck and the second debut model from Scout Motors, Volkswagen Group’s revived American off-road brand. At 5,822 mm long with a 2,327 mm width, it sits in the heart of the full-size American truck segment. A 5.5-foot (1.68 m) cargo bed, 900 kg (2,000 lb) payload, and 4,500 kg (10,000 lb) towing capacity on the BEV version give it the numbers the segment demands.
The same two powertrain choices as the Traveler SUV apply here. The battery-electric version uses an NMC pack with over 560 km (350 miles) of range, a 3.5-second 0 to 96 km/h time, and up to 350 kW DC charging on the 800V architecture. Harvester EREV pairs an LFP battery - good for around 240 km (150 miles) of electric range - with a Volkswagen Group four-cylinder petrol engine working as a generator, pushing total range beyond 800 km (500 miles). The EREV tows roughly half as much as the BEV due to its lighter battery and different drivetrain layout.
Both variants use four-wheel drive with off-road locks and terrain modes. The retro-influenced design draws on the original Scout II profile from the 1970s, with square body lines and a purpose-built interior. The Terra is sold direct to consumers online. Production begins in March 2030 at Scout’s factory near Columbia, South Carolina - approximately 18 months after the Traveler - with pricing starting under $60,000.
