About

Scout Motors Inc. is an American automotive brand established in 2022 as a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group. It revives the International Harvester Scout name - an iconic American 4x4 produced from 1961 to 1980 - for a new generation of electric and range-extender off-road vehicles.

The brand’s debut lineup consists of two models: the Traveler SUV and the Terra pickup truck. Both are built around an 800-volt platform with ladder-frame architecture and offer a choice between a full battery-electric powertrain and a range-extender hybrid called Harvester, which pairs an electric drive system with a four-cylinder petrol engine acting as a generator. Scout sells direct to consumers online, without a traditional dealer network.

A new manufacturing plant is under construction near Columbia, South Carolina, with production of the Traveler planned for late 2028 and the Terra following in 2030.
