Overview

The Toyota Camry is the mid-size sedan that has anchored Toyota’s US lineup for four decades, and the current ninth generation dropped every combustion-only option to become a hybrid across the board. It runs on the TNGA-K platform shared with the RAV4 and Highlander, measures 4,885 mm long on a 2,825 mm wheelbase, and is sold in LE, SE, Nightshade Edition, XLE and XSE trims.

The single powertrain is the fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System: a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired with electric motors through an eCVT, rated at 225 hp with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is a stand-alone option on every trim and works by adding a rear motor rather than a mechanical link to the back axle, which lifts system output to 232 hp. In its most efficient form the Camry is EPA-rated at 51 mpg combined.

Inside, the layout puts a horizontal display bar across the dash: a digital instrument panel with a separate central touchscreen, growing in size on higher trims. Toyota Safety Sense is standard, bundling adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping and automatic emergency braking, and the SE and XSE trims add firmer suspension tuning and their own body detailing.

US pricing opens at $29,100 for the LE, $32,600 for the Nightshade Edition, $34,300 for the XLE and $35,500 for the XSE, before a $1,195 delivery charge. All-wheel drive adds about $1,525 to any of them.
