Wuling Hongguang Mini EV history and sales
The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV is a four-seat micro city car built by SAIC-GM-Wuling. Since its 2020 launch it has been one of China’s best-selling electric vehicles, with cumulative sales passing 1.7 million units by 2025. Wuling refreshed the range on 27 March 2026 with revised styling, a longer-range battery option and faster charging.
Wuling Hongguang Mini EV powertrain
A single 30 kW (40 hp) rear-mounted motor drives the rear wheels, taking 4.56 seconds to reach 50 km/h. Two lithium iron phosphate battery options are offered: 16.2 kWh for 205 km of CLTC range, or 25.1 kWh for 301 km. Both charge from 30-80% in 35 minutes on a DC fast charger, a notable spec for a car this size and price. The focus is short urban trips rather than long-distance driving.

Its appeal rests on simplicity and price. The cabin seats four across a four-door layout, parking is easy thanks to a footprint of just 3,268 mm long and a 4.5-metre turning radius, and running costs are minimal. A 10.1-inch central touchscreen anchors a new dashboard on the 2026 generation, and the boot holds 838 litres with the rear seats folded.

Four variants are offered, from ¥44,800 (~$6,700) for the 205 km Advanced to ¥54,800 (~$8,100) for the 301 km Premium, keeping it among the most affordable new cars on sale in China.
