BYD opened sales of the Datang in China on June 18, 2026. It is the flagship of the Dynasty family, positioned above the Tang, and grew from the Dynasty-D concept shown in 2025. More than 100,000 pre-orders were placed in the first two weeks after its Beijing Auto Show debut - 30,000 within the first 24 hours.
Three variants, one platform. All are BEV on a 1,000V architecture with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery. The entry RWD produces 408 hp from a 105.7 kWh pack and covers 800 km CLTC, with a 7.8-second 0-100 km/h time. The mid RWD steps up to 503 hp, a 130.1 kWh battery, and 950 km CLTC - BYD’s claim for the longest pure-electric range in a large SUV. The AWD combines two motors for 796 hp, keeps the 130.1 kWh pack, covers 850 km CLTC, and sprints to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The 1,000V system supports 10C peak charging; BYD quotes a 10-70% charge time of approximately five minutes, though that figure applies only to the highest-current stations currently rolling out.
Dimensions and cabin. The Datang measures 5,263 mm long on a 3,130 mm wheelbase. Seating is fixed at seven in a 2+2+3 layout. Storage: 252-litre frunk, 464 to 1,838-litre main trunk. The instrument cluster is 12.3 inches; the central screen is 17.3 inches. Top trims add a 17.3-inch ceiling display and a 12.3-inch co-pilot screen. BYD’s God’s Eye autonomous driving system, with roof-mounted LiDAR, is fitted across the range.
Pricing. The three-variant lineup runs from ¥239,900 to ¥309,900 (approximately $33,400 to $43,200 at current rates). A plug-in hybrid version is planned for a later date; BYD has not confirmed a timeline.
