The BYD Datang is the flagship of the Dynasty family, sitting above the Tang and branching from the Dynasty-D concept shown in 2025. It is a full-size seven-seat SUV measuring 5,263 mm long on a 3,130 mm wheelbase. Sales opened in China in mid-June 2026 following more than 100,000 pre-orders placed in the first two weeks after the Beijing Auto Show.
Three powertrain configurations are available, all BEV on BYD’s 1,000V platform with second-generation Blade Battery. The entry RWD uses a single motor producing 408 hp, a 105.7 kWh pack, and delivers 800 km of CLTC range with a 7.8-second 0 to 100 km/h time. The mid RWD steps up to 503 hp and a 130.1 kWh battery, and is the range leader at 950 km CLTC - BYD’s claim for the longest pure-electric range in a large SUV as of its launch. The AWD combines two motors for 796 hp, keeps the 130.1 kWh battery, and covers 850 km CLTC with a 3.9-second sprint. All variants charge 10 to 70% in approximately five minutes on the 1,000V fast-charge network, a figure BYD attributes to 10C charging capability.
Inside, seating is fixed at seven in a 2+2+3 layout - no six-seat option. The frunk holds 252 litres; the main trunk ranges from 464 to 1,838 litres with the rear rows folded. The dashboard has a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 17.3-inch central screen; top trims add a 17.3-inch ceiling display and a 12.3-inch co-pilot screen. BYD’s God’s Eye autonomous driving system, including a roof-mounted LiDAR unit, is fitted across the range.
Prices run from ¥239,900 to ¥309,900 (approximately $33,400 to $43,200). A plug-in hybrid variant is planned for a later date; no launch timeline has been confirmed.
