Reservations for the second-generation BYD Seagull opened in China on 9 October 2026, CarNewsChina reports. They add the two figures the type-approval filing left out: battery size and range. The price and on-sale date are not announced.
Second-generation Seagull reservation terms
A reservation costs 2,000 yuan (~$300) and is made in the BYD app. According to CarNewsChina, BYD says the deposit confirms purchase intent and is not a purchase contract. It can be refunded at any time before the order is locked, and buyers can change the reservation, including the configuration, after the official release. Trim levels have not been revealed.
Second-generation Seagull battery and range
There are two batteries, 30 kWh and 39.2 kWh. The listed range is 320-420 km on the CLTC cycle, or 262-344 km on the WLTP cycle. CarNewsChina does not say which range belongs to which battery.
| Seagull (first generation) | Seagull (second generation) | |
|---|---|---|
| Battery (kWh) | 30.08 / 38.88 | 30 / 39.2 |
| CLTC range (km) | 305 / 405 | 320-420 |
