USAHonda will pause production of the manual-transmission Civic Si and Acura Integra A-Spec Technology after the 2026 model year, taking the last stick-shift version of both compact sport sedans off the line for an unspecified stretch.
Officially, Honda attributes the move to “changing business conditions.” An internal letter from Honda’s Canadian assembly plant, which leaked online, points to a more specific cause: difficulty certifying the shared 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder to EPA emissions requirements for the 2027 model year and beyond. Both cars use that same 200 hp engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, standard and only gearbox on the Civic Si, and an option on the Integra A-Spec with the Technology package.
Honda frames this as a pause, not a cancellation. The company says both manual variants are planned to return, though it has not given a timeline. In the meantime, dealer inventory of manual Civic Si and Integra A-Spec models is expected to last into early 2027, based on Honda’s own sales forecasts.
The move does not touch the range-topping Civic Type R or Integra Type S. Both use a different, more powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that is not subject to the same certification issue, and both continue with their own 6-speed manual gearboxes.
The Honda Civic Si is the sport sedan trim of the 11th-generation Civic, built around a 200 hp turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission. It starts at $31,495.
The Acura Integra A-Spec is the sport-styled trim of Acura's compact liftback, available with the Technology package and a 6-speed manual transmission alongside its turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder. Prices start at $39,200.
