Renault has given the Brazilian Kwid its second major facelift. The car keeps its engine, gearbox and body shell, and gains a reworked front end, two screens and a new set of trim names. Prices start at R$82,790 (about $16,000) for the entry Evolution, with a launch promotion of R$71,090 ($13,800) that Renault has set no end date for. That is the cheapest Renault on sale in the country.
What the three versions get
The range drops from four versions to three, and two of the names are new: Evolution and Techno replace the Zen and Intense, while the Outsider carries over as the dressed-up one.
The Evolution has air conditioning, four airbags, stability control, LED daytime running lights, front electric windows, a rear parking sensor and stop-start, but no touchscreen at all. The Techno adds the 10.1-inch Media Evolution multimedia system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reversing camera, steering-wheel audio controls, electric mirrors, USB-C ports and two-tone 14-inch steel wheels. The Outsider adds two-tone paint, roof bars, side and end protection mouldings, skid-plate trim front and rear, faux-leather upholstery and 14-inch alloy wheels.
Launch prices are R$71,090, R$75,990 and R$84,890 across the three. Only the Evolution’s list price has been published, at R$82,790, so the promotion is worth R$11,700 on that version.
New screens, same engine
Every Kwid now has a seven-inch digital instrument display in place of the part-analogue cluster, and the steering wheel is new. Outside, the grille is gloss black with the current Renault lozenge, the front bumper is redesigned and the tail lights get an LED signature.
The mechanical package is untouched. The 1.0-litre SCe three-cylinder is a flex engine rated at 71 cv (70 hp) and 98 Nm on ethanol or 68 cv (67 hp) and 92 Nm on petrol, with a five-speed manual and front-wheel drive. Renault quotes 14.4 km/l in town and 15.4 km/l on the highway on petrol. The boot holds 290 litres, ground clearance is 185 mm, and the car is built at Renault’s Ayrton Senna complex in Sao Jose dos Pinhais.
The electric Kwid is gone
The facelift lands after Renault stopped selling the imported Kwid E-Tech in Brazil. The electric version was withdrawn on weak demand, with 215 registrations between January and April of this year, and imports had already been suspended at the end of 2025.
Its place in the range goes to a car from another brand. Geely holds a minority stake in Renault’s Brazilian arm and sells through the Renault dealer network there, and the electric EX2, known in China as the Geome Xingyuan, is the model that now covers the entry-level electric slot. It is imported for now and moves to the Sao Jose dos Pinhais plant at the end of 2026, alongside the EX5 EM-i hybrid.
The Geely Xingyuan is a subcompact electric hatchback aimed at China's budget EV market. Two battery options give 310 to 410 km of CLTC range, with a single rear motor of 78 to 114 hp. Prices start from ¥59,800. It is exported as the Geely EX2, which uses larger 35 and 47 kWh batteries and WLTP figures of 249 and 344 km, and opened in the UK from GBP 20,990 in July 2026.
