USASubaru has confirmed a delay to the Getaway, a three-row electric crossover the brand had planned to launch in the US in late 2026. The company says it needs additional time to finish development but has not given a new target date.
The Getaway will be Subaru’s largest EV and its most powerful production car to date. Dual electric motors produce 420 hp combined, with standard all-wheel drive across the range. The top trim pairs a 95.8 kWh battery with an estimated range of over 483 km; a more affordable 77 kWh version follows later. Charging uses the NACS connector, with DC fast charging up to 150 kW that Subaru says takes the battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes.
The Getaway seats six or seven depending on configuration. It is built at Toyota’s plant in Kentucky, sharing a production line with the electric Toyota Highlander, a related model whose own launch has likewise slipped.
Pricing has not been announced. Subaru has not said whether the delay affects both battery variants or only the initial long-range trim.
