ChinaA few months after its reveal, FAW-Volkswagen has completed certification of the ID.Aura T6, the first production model in a new ID.Aura family built specifically for China under Volkswagen’s “In China, for China” strategy. The crossover will lead the new electric lineup to market before the end of 2026.
The T6 rides on the China Electronic Architecture, an 800V platform Volkswagen co-developed with Xpeng that supports over-the-air updates and Level 2 driver-assistance features, and will underpin future China-market Volkswagen EVs.
The only confirmed powertrain so far is a 170 kW (231 hp) motor driving the front axle; battery capacity hasn’t been disclosed. Volkswagen has now clarified that the roof-mounted lidar shown at the car’s reveal will be a paid option rather than standard equipment, feeding an extended driver-assistance package.
A full public unveiling is expected soon, with FAW-Volkswagen targeting a market launch before the end of the year.
