FAW Toyota’s Changchun plant sits in Jilin province and is operated by Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor, which absorbed the former Changchun FAW Fengyue company and runs it as SFTM Changchun Fengyue. The site built the Land Cruiser Prado before it was rebuilt for the RAV4.
The fifth-generation RAV4 Rongfang rolled off the Changchun line on 22 October 2019, the first compact SUV Toyota assembled in China on the TNGA-K platform, and the plug-in hybrid version followed in April 2021. The sixth-generation Rongfang reached Chinese customers in January 2026.
China’s RAV4 is a two-plant car: FAW Toyota builds the Rongfang here, while the Toyota Wildlander, its twin under the GAC Toyota joint venture, is built in Guangzhou.
