A single front-mounted motor makes 160 kW (215 hp), with Lepas quoting "500 km-class" range on fast charging; battery capacity has not been officially disclosed. Sales are due to begin around October 2026 in markets including Australia.
The Lepas L4 is a compact SUV from Chery's global sub-brand Lepas, launched in South Africa in February 2026 as a rebadged second-generation Chery Tiggo 5 on the LEX platform. It opens with a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre engine (107 hp) and a 5-speed manual, rising to a 1.5-litre turbo (145 hp) with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic on the Javan and Pantera trims. Prices start from R299,900.
The Lepas L6 EV is the battery-electric version of Chery's L6 mid-size SUV, twinned with the Chery Tiggo 7 on the LEX platform. A single front motor makes 242 hp and 275 Nm, paired with a 65-67 kWh LFP battery for up to 510 km NEDC range (about 434 km WLTP). It premiered in Bangkok in March 2026 ahead of launches across Southeast Asia and Australia.

The Lepas L8 is a plug-in hybrid family SUV, twinned with the next-generation Chery Tiggo 8 as the debut model for Chery's Lepas export brand. A 1.5-litre turbo engine and electric motor combine for 275 hp and 365 Nm through a single-speed DHT, with an 18.4 kWh battery giving up to 100 km of WLTC electric range. UK prices start from £34,900.
Lepas launched in April 2025 at a global event in Wuhu, Anhui, as Chery’s most premium play for markets outside China. The name blends “leap” and “passion,” and the brand pitches itself around “elegant mobility” - a step up in positioning from Chery’s existing export brands, Omoda and Jaecoo.
The lineup opens with the L8, a D-segment SUV built on the T1X platform shared with the Tiggo 8, Tiggo 7, Omoda C7, and Jaecoo J7, offered with petrol, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric powertrains. The L6 and L4 follow as smaller SUVs twinned with the Chery Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 5 respectively, each sold in petrol and electric versions as Lepas builds out its NEV (new-energy vehicle) range. Chery has set a target of 500,000 annual sales and 1,200 outlets worldwide within three years.
Lepas has launched in South Africa, with the UK, Australia, and other right-hand-drive and emerging markets to follow through 2026.
