The Lepas L8 is the debut model for Chery’s global Lepas sub-brand, a plug-in hybrid SUV twinned with the next-generation Chery Tiggo 8. It measures 4,688 mm long, 1,871 mm wide, and 1,694 mm tall on a 2,800 mm wheelbase, positioning it as a family-sized five-seater with close to a metre of rear legroom.
A 1.5-litre turbocharged engine (143 hp, 215 Nm) works with an electric motor (204 hp, 310 Nm) through a single-speed dedicated hybrid transmission, for a combined 275 hp and 365 Nm. An 18.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery gives up to 100 km of electric-only range on the WLTC cycle, with a combined range beyond 1,300 km once the petrol engine joins in. DC fast charging runs at up to 40 kW, enough for a 30-80 percent top-up in around 20 minutes.
The cabin follows a minimalist layout with a large touchscreen, wireless phone charging, and a panoramic windscreen. The entry Essence trim brings 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a panoramic glass roof, and driver-assistance tech as standard. The Elevate trim steps up to 20-inch wheels, power-adjustable leather-effect seats with heating, ventilation, and massage function, a Sony sound system, and a 360-degree parking camera.
Lepas prices the L8 in the UK from £34,900 for the Essence and £37,900 for the Elevate, with orders opening in July 2026 and first deliveries in September.
